Show Notes-

Today MacKenzie and Leah are talking about how they try and stay grounded in the Word of God and what their personal Bible study and prayer time looks like.

Leah walks us through:

  • her guiding principle for education in the Charlotte Mason method and how it fits into her overarching life as grounded on Scripture.
  • her own background growing up in a Christian home and church.
  • the primacy of the Bible in her own daily rhythm as well as in their family and homeschool.
  • the power and importance of seeking personal transformation through Bible study, not just knowledge.
  • using narration and discussion both personally and with her children to solidify their own understanding of Scripture.
  • the importance of accountability in building a habit of getting into the Word.

Three Bible study accountability questions:

  1. What are you reading?
  2. What has God said to you?
  3. What are you doing about it?

MacKenzie shares about:

  • her own struggles to find a refreshed understanding of God’s love and grace during a dry, difficult time.
  • ideas for finding ways to be intentional and creative in building the habit of daily time in the Word.
  • finding accountability and encouragement with someone locally to help getting back into the Bible.
  • having a simple, grace-filled morning quiet time as nourishment during stressful times
  • memorizing Scripture with her kids.
  • lots of tools and resources (links below) to help you dig into the Word.

Cautions against legalism about spending time in the Word every day.

Reasons for having a quiet time before doing anything else in the morning, if you can.

Pros and Cons of following Bible study helps and teachers.

Don’t let your Bible time be too lopsided. Get into the whole Word.
