Guilty pleasure…

Our city has a local, free paper that is published weekly. I’m sure most cities have something similar. My typical reason for picking up a copy is to check out the calendar section in the back for fun things to do with the kids.

Until now!

For some reason the Cheers & Jeers sections caught my eye and I couldn’t help but satisfy my curiosity! They are basically just postings from people who write in to either give accolade or pick a bone with someone. Obviously the Jeers are naturally going to be more creative and unintentionally funny.

For instance- the somewhat ex-smoker that is mad at people complaining about the stink from e-cigarettes and is therefore propositioning to outlaw aftershave and perfume (because they set off his asthma!) and furthermore, is threatening to fart on public transit in protest.

And he took the time to write into the paper about it.

Or- the lady who felt the need to announce her anger over the store clerk who called a price check on her mom’s Preparation-H and embarrassed her. (which is validly embarrassing- but publishing it in the paper? Really?)

Classic.

How did I never see his before?! I laughed harder than I have in days! There was half a page! It takes a special brand of people to feel their voices are really going to be best heard if they just post on the back page of a local free paper.

You just can’t get better comedy than people’s genuine strangeness! I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be picking up this publication a little more regularly from here on out!

Oh, neat! Let’s see, my father-in-law is cousin to her mother-in-law, haha! I think that’s right…so basically cousins! :) We do see each other at church functions etc. as well. :) So fun to read your blog!
