Miche- how I love thee! Part I

It all started on my birthday when my mother-in-law bought me this beauty… remember when I told you about her here?

I have loved her ever since! I mean she is turquoise after all! The truth of the matter is that I have always had a thing for bags, but she just took my love to a whole new level! Her color obviously played into it, but even more so was her brand- Miche.

Have you heard of Miche? If you haven’t, let me introduce you! Miche bags are completely unique because they consist of a two-part system- a base bag that goes on the inside and interchangeable shells that cover the outside to give your bag a completely new look in just a few seconds. No hassle of changing all the contents of your bag over because all you are changing is the outside! Isn’t that brilliant? Not to mention economical! High-quality purses can run in the hundreds making it difficult to have any sort of variety. Miche shells, on the other hand, have a variety of price points and none are over $50, most are much lower.

So, back to the story! I toted my big, beautiful, turquoise companion around with me wherever I went for nearly five months before I gave any consideration to getting involved with Miche from a business standpoint. Years ago I was involved in a home party sales business for stamping and scrapbooking products and after a few short months wound up hating it! So, when I saw on the Miche Facebook page a few weeks ago that they were going to be having one of their Building the Future seminars in my city (which is basically an evening where they talk about their transition to a new business model and how it will greatly benefit their representatives and give them the opportunity to diversify their product line, I didn’t give it much more thought. But then I mentioned it to my sister-in-law, a fellow Miche lover, and she encouraged me to check it out.

So a week later, after running it by The Carpenter who was surprisingly supportive (I wouldn’t have blamed him for not being- I’ve had a lot of ideas over the years!), I decided to go to the meeting and check it out. Still, however, my main interest was in getting more bags and shells for myself, if I’m being honest! I mean the discount and incentives are a huge perk, especially to a bag lover like myself!

That night, though, I started to see what getting involved with Miche could mean to my family. With this new business model the growth and potential for representatives is so huge that I couldn’t deny how it could make a difference to our finances (which have been impossibly tight over the last few years) and take some of the pressure off of my husband. Even if I could only just cover our Christmas and birthday gift purchases it would make a big difference.

But then I ran into the hiccup of not being a big home-party fan. In fact, most of the time I receive home party invites from my friends with dread. There just seems to be so much pressure associated with home parties and I knew that if I was going to pursue this I would have to do things differently. For starters I didn’t want to be pushy. These bags are so cool and beautiful all by themselves- I don’t need to convince people of that. I want women to buy them if they love them and can afford them, not because they feel like they have to because they are at a party. To do that I plan to give a very short presentation while sitting amongst the party goers, instead of up in front of them, followed by giving them lots of time to eat, chat and most importantly- play with the bags! I want it to really feel like a fun night or afternoon out with girlfriends.

I wouldn’t want to just rely on parties to bring in sales, though. I know I won’t have to because I have had so many women comment on my bag just standing in the grocery store line that handing out cards and catalogues in those instances alone will probably help boost my business. I also want my customers to have the open opportunity to have book parties, where they just gather orders from their friends and get to reap the hostess rewards, rather than having to actually have people over to their house. And then there are always orders from my blog… 😉

So, obviously, I decided to go ahead and become a rep. These new shells that just got released October 1st may have had a little something to do with my decision too!

So basically, you’ll see some links around my blog, and from time-to-time I’ll show some updates on new products or fun things I am excited to have gotten myself, but it definitely won’t be taking over this space. If you would like to make a purchase, however, I would love to work with you to get you all set up! You can check out my Miche site here, or you can get ahold of me directly at boldmiche(at)gmail(dot)com. It doesn’t matter where you live in the country, I can facilitate your orders or even a book party if you would like to earn some free product as a hostess. And of course, I would also love to help you get all set up as a Rep if you would like to be, or answer any of your questions if it is something you are considering.

Tomorrow I will be posting Part II to show you all the fun stuff I got in my start-up kit order! Until then, have a wonderful Tuesday!
